Powerlink is a Government Owned Corporation (GOC) which owns, operates, develops and maintains Queensland’s high voltage electricity transmission network. Through regional distribution networks, Powerlink is responsible for the supply of electricity to around two million customers.

Powerlink is continually seeking to make improvements to how it manages its electric transmission network and as a sophisticated IT user has been actively maturing its requirements management process and accordingly engaged BCI Technology to provide its Requirements Verification & Validation (V&V) Service.

BCI Technology performed a requirements V&V for Powerlink on a requirements specification that was part of an open tender.  The review made several recommendations used to clarify the intension of the specification and also to further improve its requirements management processes.

Powerlink adopted the recommendations and revised the tender to include a two-page clarification based on the recommendations of the review. Powerlink has since used the Requirements V&V Service for subsequent projects and sees BCI Technology as a key partner in helping to improve Powerlink’s requirements management processes and ultimately ensuring that projects deliver the right system, on time and on budget.
